Nintendo Zone gets Euro debut at Hyper Japan

Nintendo's location-based content service for 3DS and DS, Nintendo Zone, has finally turned up in the UK.

3DSTribe spotted the application while attending Hyper Japan. It's not clear whether entering the Zone activated the application or whether it was downloaded as a result.

The temporary Hyper Japan Nintendo Zone offered an episode of One Piece, an event guide, a range of five demos, and a showcase of first-party titles.

Nintendo Zone was added in a Japanese and US 3DS units in a December firmware update, but has previously not extended its reach to European territories. The service utilises the system's SpotPass capabilities; When players bring their consoles into a Nintendo Zone, currently mainly found in Starbucks and McDonald's, they are automatically granted access to content exclusive to that zone via free WiFi.

Thanks, GoNintendo.
