Lumines Electronic Symphony was almost Daft Punk themed

The unwieldy Electronic Symphony subtitle of the recently-released Vita version of Lumines was very nearly something much snappier.

Speaking on the 8-4 Podcast, as reported by GameInformer, Q Entertainment producer James Mielke said the company's initial pitch for a Lumines title on Vita was to involve a recognisable artist or property.

"Originally, when I first thought about rebooting Lumines I was like, well maybe it would be interesting to attach it to a big license in particular," he said.

"Because then it would seem very different and at the same time, depending on the license, it would seem very much like Lumines. So, I originally pitched this game as Daft Punk: Lumines."

Both Daft Punk and publisher Ubisoft were keen, but scheduling clashes with the Tron: Legacy soundtrack shelved the idea.

Lumines is one of a number of Ubisoft launch titles for Vita.
