Guild Wars 2 public beta sign ups end today at 6pm GMT, close to 1 million sign ups
If you haven’t signed up for the Guild Wars 2 public beta, you only have until 6.00pm GMT today to do so.

Upon signing up, you’ll have the chance to participate in one of the upcoming beta events, and can participate in some of the adventures we outlined through our impressions piece earlier in the week.
An FAQ is also available for anyone with questions pertaining to the beta through the official page.
Open beta testing will go live this spring, and the game will be released later this year.
Close to 1 million people have signed up for the beta, according to internal metrics and web tracking service Duckboard (via Massively).
Exact number as of this post is 990,152.
Sign ups ended today at 6PM UK.

Actually, it was over a million. Not close to.
And as for the TOR beta, I believe sign ups for that were open for weeks. This was open for 48 hours and got over a million in that time.
Also, keep in mind that this is still a closed beta. I suspect we’ll see numbers approaching 3-4m when the open beta hits, being double of what TOR had.
Frankly, I suspect that GW2 will leave TOR in the dust, popularity-wise, and considering that ArenaNet is a tiny developer compared to Bioware, and considering that NCsoft is a tiny publisher compared to EA, it will be very lol.

Techincally SWTOR hasn’t had a single open beta, they’ve all been invite only. But the amount of people they allowed in, at the final beta was at the 2 million mark. Don’t see why you need to flame SWTOR here, since GW2 has nothing to do with it, since one is sub based and the other isn’t, they can both exist.

Exactly. I plan on getting this game to and playing just like I played the original while subbing WoW.

FYI If you didn’t receive a confirmation email after you signed up your application was not accepted. I did it with 2 different email address and the 2nd one received a confirmation response.
