EA ends free Battlefield 3 offer with ME3 Origin pre-order early

Earlier this week, EA was offering Battlefield 3 as a free digital download to those who pre-ordered Mass Effect 3 through the firm’s Origin service. The offer wasn’t supposed to expire until March 5, but it looks as though EA ended the deal a bit early, around 2:00 PM EST on February 16 to be exact. Those who got in on the deal before its early demise will receive a code to download the shooter via email by by March 8, which two days after Mass Effect 3 launches in the US. Thanks, Joystiq.

Maybe they realised how retarded that deal was for them XD and how awesome it was for customers.

Nah, it’s just a typical publicity stunt.

They got their posts on the internet now, so there’s no reason to keep it going.

Money, money, money.

Or maybe they only planned to give out a certain amount and the limit had already been reached…

Either way, if you wanted Battlefield 3 and were planning on getting Mass Effect 3 you would have to be retarded to have not pre-ordered it already after hearing about that deal…ya snooze ya lose

@4

THats exactly what it was. If they had infinite number they would kept it going in order to bring in more money.

When Steam do preorder deals involving free games they’re usually on a play now basis rather than after the preorder game comes out.

But hey, this it’s Origin, they’ve learned from history…

@5, they do have an infinite number, they have software that will churn out BF3 keys til the cows come home. The point of the offer is to generate interest in Origin, and that interest is only worth a certain number of free BF3 keys.

They should have done it for SSX not for a hit like ME3

@6 Yup, obviously.

I think it was during one of the xmas sales that Steam ran out of Prey keys. 2K apologized and replaced the offer with Bioshock.

There’s no way EA didn’t see it coming.
