Starbreeze cuts staff following completion of Syndicate

Starbreeze has made staff reductions following the completion of Syndicate.

According to a report on GI.biz, the firm has cut 25 jobs and has announced board member Peter Tornquist will resign from his position, and the firm hasn’t any plans to replace him.

Tornquist has served as chairman of the board of directors at Starbreeze since November 2007, after previously serving as vice chairman, and a previous stint as its chairman from 2002 to 2007.

“It is sad that we are forced to make staff cutbacks affecting employees,” said company CEO Mikael Nermark, “but we have to reduce staff after the final delivery of the Syndicate.”

Syndicate releases next week on February 21 and February 24 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in the US and UK, respectively.

Some may have been freelance hires. But this is the shape of the gaming industry. Publishers reporting huge profits(excluding EA/THQ) whilst developers get kicked in the balls.

Digital is where its at and its about time more developers went down the self publishing route.

Yeah, I think that the digital age will be ushered in early out of sheer necessity. I guess internet speeds and caps are the ONLY thing stopping it now.
