Monolith investigating Gotham City Impostors data wipe glitch

Friday, 17th February 2012 01:18 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Monolith and Warner Bros are seeking details of a reported Gotham City Impostors glitch which resets player stats. The problem apparently occurs most often when players have upgraded from a trial to the full version. Losing progress negates the benefits of paid DLC bonuses like XP boosts, so irate users have vocally filled 68 pages on the game’s forums. Hit the link above to add your report should you have suffered a similar misfortune.

Thanks, GamePolitics.

Sadly that’s the least of their worries.

Way to fuck up a good game.

I’ve spent so much time in the matchmaking menus in this game that they started to burn into the plasma TV. It’s a great game, but I’ve promised myself not to touch it until they release the patch in March. Hopefully that’ll fix some of the matchmaking problems.

    It really bothers me.

Gotham City Imposters is now completely off the Steam Top 100 chart, less than two weeks after release, meaning that fewer than 400 people are currently playing.

    That’s absolutely abysmal.

A fix in March sounds good and all, but they aren’t going to win back all the people they’ve lost, and it’s highly unlikely that they’ll start to regain new players.

It’s going to take nothing short of a relaunch to see the game survive, a huge PR investment.

I think VG247 should do a feature or follow up on this, because it’s really a pressing story at this point. Monolith and Warner Brothers have in all likelihood managed to ruin a truly great game, and there is no reason for it.

Playing something like MW3 and seeing the matchmaker put a game together in 5 seconds just makes me sad that it can’t be that way with Imposters. If it worked, it would be all I was playing for the forseeable future.

Wow, the game has reviewed well but after the glitches in the beta not being fixed and now this, I’m not sure if I should change it from my waiting list to my “never touch it” list
