Valve confirms LAN, mod support for DOTA 2

Valve will include LAN and mod support for DOTA 2, the company's confirmed.

Speaking to JoinDota, project lead Erik Johnson confirmed it was currently fleshing out the LAN system for the game right now.

"There are some systems that LAN mode requires that we haven't finished yet, mainly because we've been focused on matchmaking. We know how important this feature is for the community," he said.

On mods, he added: "We have a long history supporting the mod community around our own games, so we'd like to continue that with Dota 2."

Johnson wouldn't confirm if the game would be a F2P effort that ran off transactions, but confirmed the still to be announced release date wouldn't tie into the upcoming international tournament later this year.

"Our release date is not tied to The International, but we do have a goal of everyone being able to view the matches live inside the game."
