Mojang: No plans for Vita Minecraft port, Scrolls possible

Monday, 13th February 2012 21:36 GMT By Debabrata Nath

Mojang isn’t too keen on bringing Minecraft to PlayStation Vita, as confirmed in a webchat interview this evening.

Mojang’s Daniel Kaplan said that despite the success of Minecraft: Pocket Edition on the Sony Xperia Play, it isn’t going to explore the possibility of another handheld version of the game.

However, the studio’s very keen on bringing its next game – strategic card battler Scrolls – to as many platforms as possible, including handheld ones. Kaplan said the fantasy-themed title is “definitely coming to touch screens”.

Kaplang’s also commented about the possibility of third-party published title Cobalt coming to handhelds, stating that’s less likely to happen.

“Don’t know about that,” he said, “the controls don’t fit the touch screen.”

Thanks, Eurogamer.

    Makes no sense…

From one hand, maybe Sony just want to keep long enough this title on his Xperia in order to maintain all the interest they can on it. From the other hand, maybe it´s just a internal question on Mojang as they don´t want to release it because they want Scrolls Portable to be a new bang completely new and separately from Minecraft Portable.

However, it´s strange not only see that a port won´t be heading for Vita but, that having the new Ps Suite SDKs, it would be completely easy and fast to port this game to Vita…

I wish they port to a programming language that doesn’t suck balls.
