New Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing toys were spotted at the New York Toy Fair this weekend, and Kotaku reports a booth attendent said a sequel to the kart racing title is on the way. We’ve asked Sega for official word. The first game released on practically every possible format in February 2010 and drew a reasonably warm response.

Time for the age-old question: Why does Sonic need to drive?

Is it for shopping tips? To take friends (hah, what friends?) to the movies?
    The mystery still stands.

    That’s totally irrelevant psxman.

Sonic and Sega All Stars is pretty much the only kart game worth my time these days. Playing that, and then going back to Mario just feels completely pointless. Mario kart has barely changed in the last 10 years, you’re still playing the same, slow kart game with dodgy steering.

I think/fear that this is about as much vindication as Sonic is ever going to see again.
