Warner looking into Gotham City Impostors PS3 lockout

Warner has said it’s to look into why players who’ve bought the full version of Gotham City Impostors on PS3 are locked out from the full game.

The Monolith online-based game released this week, but those who bought it on PSN are finding themselves unable to gain access to the full game, instead getting the demo version.

Its now asked those affected to provide its PSN ID and the country it’s playing from on the game’s forums.

“We appreciate your patience and are working hard to try to get this sorted out for you. We want you in the game killing one-another, not waiting to unlock it,” said one of the admins on the forums.

Good luck, owners of the game. If it’s anything like their patch for Batman Arkham City, you’ll be waiting for a long, long time.

Gotham City Impostors is in serious trouble apparently.

They launched the PC version a month too soon. The matchmaker barely works, and you’d be pretty lucky to get a match within 15 minutes of waiting and disconnects.

They’ve promised a patch (or “DLC”, but actually patch) coming in March which is supposed to fix the game, but right now it’s a disaster. I’m pretty much at the point where I don’t want to bother anymore.

I’ve spent 3 hours in-game, and 36 minutes out of those have been spent actually playing the game. That pretty much says it all.

And that’s a damn shame, because it’s an outstanding game. Best of CoD mixed with the best of TF2.

@1 It’s Monolith, not Rocksteady, but it’s certainly still a sad case of a great game being screwed up by things that have nothing to do with the gameplay itself.

@2: Yes, yes, but the Publisher is the same and right now it seems the publisher doesn’t give a single fuck about fixing the game.

@3 I wouldn’t know, but Warner are definitely looking like amateurs at the moment. At least on the PC.

Backing GFWL is pretty stupid, putting it in a multiplayer shooter is a lot more stupid, and you’d expect that from some clueless publishers, but then they go and launch Gotham City Impostors with a ridiculous double-account system – and the game barely works at this point.

You’re not going to win on the PC by inconveniencing people. At least everybody’s complaining about it, so if Warner are serious about ruining their reputation in spite of having a great line-up of games, they should just continue down the path they’re on at the moment.

I don’t see that many complaints about graphics on the Arkham City forum though – It seems to be a problem with saves. Looking at the Gotham City Impostors forum, people are pretty much falling over eachother to advise against buying it.

Either way, as Ubisoft have shown us, you don’t get anywhere by playing deaf and dumb. At some point, someone at Warner has to wake up, or face the same loss of marketshare.
