@1, same here mate. First day buy for me.

I’m still amazed by the community stuff and editor that is inside it.

Those aren’t spyplanes Johnny. Spyplanes are built for speed. Making a rounded nose means you’re deliberately slowing it down, which usually indicates an air support role.

    It’s the L-159 ALCA.

@2 Amen. Buying it on day one is like buying the right to wait for the paid “expansion” (aka patch).

I like the sound of a lot of the functionalities they’re adding, exchangable armaments and all that, but it’s still not what the community wants to see.

We’ve been waiting for proper AI and controls since the OFP days. Given that every new game basically resets the modding community since BIS have never ensured backward compatability, they really need to bring something worthwhile.

Focusing on poorly optimized graphics and gadgetry shouldn’t be the priority.

That’s why OFP was the best game of the bunch. People had 5 years to finish their stuff. Now they have 2 or 3 at best, using a more difficult system, and the mods suffer for it.

@4 Well, on Wikipedia, it says it can be used for renaissance missions, so really, you’re both right.

@5 Fair enough, but just to split hairs, any plane can be used for recon missions.

When I think of the word spyplane, that implies covert surveillance, which means either extremely advanced monitoring systems and avionics, or extremely high speed and altitude.

The ALCA is a pretty unremarkable budget aircraft. Of course you can slap a camera on it and send it out to look for the enemy, but it wouldn’t be covert, and it would probably have to get out in a hurry.

    This is more elaborate:

Tactical recon essentially means combat recon. Not spying, more spotting.
