Japanese charts: Vita sales fall 57% over last week

PS Vita sales showed a drastic decline on Media Create’s weekly sales chart with only 18,361 units moved, a 57% decline over the 42,648 units sold last week. On the software end, Namco's Super Robot Taise OG Saga Masou Kishin II moved 81,996 units for its debut on PSP.

In Japan, Vita saw an upswing at launch, but sales have progressively dropped ever since:

  • Launch: 324,859
  • Week 2: 72,479
  • Week 3: 42,648

For the week ending January 15, the holiday sales drop not only affected Vita, but 3DS as well, with unit sales for the handheld dropping 50% over the week prior, despite still maintaining the top spot on the hardware chart.

Media Create has stopped reporting sales of DS Lite, which last week only sold 28 units in the region.

PS3 and PSP, which landed in second and thrid place, respectively, also saw a drop in sales.
