Get the 1993 version of Syndicate from GOG this week

The original Syndicate – a tactical Bullfrog classic from the brain of Peter Moluneux – is coming to Good Old Games this week. From January 19, you can grab the seminal strategy for just $5.99. This is particularly good news for Australians, as it’s the only version of the game we’re allowed to play, but for everyone else, it’ll be a fine primer to the franchise’s future world ahead of Starbreeze’s shooter in February.

Thanks, Gamefront.

I don’t understand what GoG does. They just allow you to play old games, right? Do they reprogram it so you can play it on current tech?

@1, I don’t know what you mean by “allow”, but if that means buying games off them, then yes they allow you to play games in exchange for money.

All the games they sell are guaranteed to run on modern systems as I understand it, but like steam the store page well let you know what is and isn’t supported.

I just played Alpha Centauri on my Windows 7 machine. So i think they are at least building some kind of DOS Box arround the games. Love the site and bought some of my old now-unplayable DOS classics, or from my list of games to own from the old days =)

@2: Just wanted to know if they do some extra work so you can run it on current machines. Have Syndicate lying around here somewhere. Last time i checked, it didn’t work.
