A new trailer for Final Fantasy XIII-2 has arrived to assist those still wrapping their heads around the time-travel component.

Called the Historia Crux, the time travel system is central to Final Fantasy XIII-2’s plot, which skips off in all directions along alternate, history-changing timelines. Players have the ability to return to previously-explored areas, too.

The anticipated RPG sequel is expected on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 at the end of January in the US, and in early February in Europe.
