DOOM now available worldwide through XBL Marketplace

Bethesda has announced id Software’s famous shooter, DOOM, is now available through Xbox Live Marketplace worldwide- even in Germany. So much for the banned list, eh? You can download the 1993 classic for 400 Microsoft Points.

Still the best fps ever… ;)

Pretty sure it cost 800 the first time they released it for xbl too, good for people who don’t have it yet.

@1 – I’m guessing you weren’t very old when it was released…..
The first time I saw Doom running, it was amazing, there was nothing it it before.
I bought the shareware version, pre-web, as my local BBS’s didn’t have it yet. I worked in the electronics area of a retail store, and installed it on the best computer we sold as a demo, a 486DX-66mhz with a NEC 17 inch monitor, and just let it play the demo. Customers and employee’s would see that and just watch, mesmerized by it. I was made to remove it eventually but it sold more computers than any other demo we had up.

When Heretic was released, I placed that on as a demo, and it had the same reaction. Heretic is still my favorite FPS—-ever….
