Gameloft not guilty of health and safety breaches

Despite a recruit’s claims that he was forced to work up to 120 hours per week, the New Zealand studio of publisher Gameloft has been cleared of any health and safety breaches.

Australian programmer Glenn Watson worked at Gameloft’s Auckland studio for just four weeks in 2011, resigning after being expected to work 14-hour shifts five days a week. He claimed another worker had clocked 24 hours in one shift.

According to the New Zealand Labour Department, there is “No substantial evidence” of any breach, reports Develop, who goes on to explain that no action will be taken against the company.

This is outrageous, but nothing new. I bet they had a clause allowing Gameloft to treat them this way in their contracts.
