Reggie: Wii U information coming throughout 2012

Wednesday, 11th January 2012 14:16 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime has suggested we may not have to wait until E3 before we find out more about on Wii U.

“Essentially, we will be sharing information throughout the entire year,” said Fils-Aime in an interview with Spike at CES, where Nintendo is showing Wii U and its content from last year’s E3 to press behind closed doors.

“I won’t say you’re going to have to wait until E3, but certainly we’re not breaking any news here; no launch date, no launch price, no game line-up. We will be sharing a whole lot of information all through the year on how we will be driving Wii U into households this year.”

Fils-Aime added, on the suggestion that 3DS’s launch line-up wasn’t quit there, that Wii U’s launch line-up and launch window games would contain “experiences that are going to drive the install base” of the new hardware.

Wii U is set to launch sometime between E3 and the end of the year.

Bring Pikmin 3, xenoblade chronicles, and with last story in HD and i will be pretty happy with the launch line up, that and a resonable price point, no more than 299$ please

I am on the fence with the Wii-u. I do not own a Wii, and what i have seen of the Wii-u looks interesting, but nothing that makes it a must have so far. I hope that by launch time they can get me excited about it.
If MS announced a new console for 2013 at E3 or by the end of the year, that might skew my decision as well.
I loved the Nintendo NES and SNES, but haven’t owned a Nintendo console since. The Ultra 64 didn’t interest me as I had a playstation and 3DFX card, the cutesy Gamecube didn’t interest me compared to the Xbox/PS2, and
The Wii’s low resolution gameplay completely turned me off compared to the 360/PS3.
I want a powerful Nintendo console with a new Super Mario 3D that wows us, not a 720p/1080p Wii game, and I want much better Online options than the current unit.
Motion controls like the Move, Kinect, and Wiimote just don’t interest me.
