GDC 2012: Kasavin, Molyneux, Bleszinski and more added to line-up

GDC organisers have announced three new sessions, including a star-studded panel with some heavyweight names.

Called Forgotten Tales Remembered: The Games that Inspired Leading Innovators, the panel has been added to the Game Design track. It will be chaired by the Director of the International Center for the History of Electronic Games, JP Dyson, leading an all-star cast. Fabel creator Pete Molyneux, Gears of War lead Cliff Bleszinski, key DOOM creative John Romero and Civilization designer Sid Meier are apparently just some of the hosts.

Former games media turned developer Greg Kasavin of Supergiant Games will lead another Game Design session, entitled Creating Atmosphere in Games. Using Bastion as his main example, Kasavin will discuss the difficulty of building "cohesive and meaningful moment-to-moment experiences" to engage the player in a game's world.

In the Business, Marketing, & Management stream, the popular Ben Cousins, once of EA and now of Ngmoco, will give a talk called When the Consoles Die - What Comes Next?, on the potential death of the traditional games business model.
