Platinum Games hopes to make a 2012 anounce

Bayonetta director Hideki Kamiya has hinted at something big in Platinum Games' near future.

Speaking to 4Gamer as part of its annual survey of Japanese developers, Kamiya apparently said he was ready to take up the design reigns again. Andriasang's translation has Kamiya promising to "announce a new game and make a comeback on the game scene".

Kamiya's last project as director was 2009's Bayonetta, having taken less central roles on Vanquish and the upcoming Anarchy Reigns and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. His past works include Okami, Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil 2, and Devil May Cry.

Platinum Games producer Atsushi Inaba also dropped a small hint, saying he expected 2012 to be "the ultimate year for Platinum Games" despite only two known projects on the table.

Platinum Games is staffed by a number of key ex-Capcom staffers after the closure of its Clover Studios. The studio had a four-game deal with Sega, later extended to a fifth title, and has partnered with Konami and KojiPro on Metal gear Rising: Revengeance.
