Warlock: Master of the Arcane closed beta applications being accepted
Paradox Interactive has announced that it’s now accepting closed beta applications for its turn-based strategy game Warlock – Master of the Arcane. You can sign up here. Here’s official word on the game: “Set in the Majesty series’ world of Ardania, players have to manage cities, muster armies and enlist the help of three unique races without neglecting their wizardly training- dedicated scholars will find that a new spell combinations or powerful enchantments can be as dangerous as an army.” Warlock: Master of the Arcane is slated for a Q2 2012 release on PC. PopCap launches freemium Bejeweled and Blitz games on iOS devices
PopCap plans to release two Bejeweled games for iOS, which will retire the current version of Bejeweled 2 + Blitz in order to switch over to a new freemium F2P model, which recently launched on portable Apple systems. Blitz contains the same 60-second gameplay as the previous version, and includes Facebook integration and a new user-interface for the Retina display screen. Coins will act as the currency behind the F2P version, and players will be able to unlock additional coins using The Daily Spin mode once per day. Bejeweled will be re-released with HD graphics and retina display support with the following three game modes: Classic, Zen, and Diamond Mine. Thanks, Shack.

Kalypso to publish retail version of Telltale’s Jurassic Park: The Game
Kalypso Media is to publish Telltale’s Jurassic Park: The Game, and boxes should land at retail in UK, Europe, Australia, South Africa and Asia during Q1 2012 on Xbox 360 and PC. No word just yet on whether the PS3 version will be published by the as well. “We are thrilled to partner with Telltale Games to bring Jurassic Park: The Game to retail in many territories,” said Kalypso Media Group’s global MD Simon Hellwig. Koei Tecmo acquires Atelier series developer Gust
Koei Tecmo has announced that Atelier developer Gust will become a subsidiary of the firm once it acquires 495 shares of stock from shareholder Keiken Holdings, which holds 100%. A deal for the stock purchase was finalized today, and the transfer is planned the middle of December. The purchase price for the stock will be ¥22 million. Koei Tecmo said that Gust’s Atelier series, which it publishes, is a popular IP with fans, and it hopes to raise the value of the IP with the acquisition. Thanks, Andriasang. [pic]

Story trailer and screens released for Soul Calibur V
Namco has releases a new story trailer for Soul Calibur V, which gets you caught up on the battle between Siegfried and Nightmare that took place 17 years before the events depicted the game. Apparently, the face-off brought about a “cataclysmic conclusion” to the era, and ushered in a new one where the stories of old citing the sword’s loss of power may prove to be wrong. Interesting. There’s also a new batch of screens below as well. Soul Calibur V is slated for an early 2012 release on PS3 and Xbox 360.

New XBL EULA prevents class-action suits, limits liability to $5
Like Sony and EA before it, Microsoft has updated its user agreement to include a clause which keeps users from bringing a class-action suit against the firm. It has also limited its liability to the cost of one month of service, which is around $5 for Gold members, and zero for Silver members.

Serious Sam 3 punishes pirates with unbeatable enemy
Those thinking of pirating Serious Sam 3 may wish to reconsider, unless they want to be dogged constantly by a giant, pink, invincible scorpion. According to a report over on Dark Side of Gaming, the DRM in the game is said giant scorpion, and it cannot be killed. It only appears in pirated versions of the game, and will be your constant, deadly nemesis from the moment you boot up the game. Mojang to implement one sign-in for all games
Mojang’s Tobias Mollstam has announced on the official company blog that user accounts for Minecraft, Cobalt and Scrolls will only require one sign-in. According to the post, once users create a Mojang account they will be able to use this universal sign in for the aforementioned titles. Basically, it’ll work in a similar fashion to Battlenet. Those who have an existing Minecraft account aren’t being forced into this, as it’s opt in only at this point. Thanks, Gamefront.

Modern Warfare 3 eighth most popular topic on Facebook in 2011
Apparently, Modern Warfare 3 was the eighth most popular topic on Facebook this year. It was the only game in the top 10, and the death of Steve Jobs hit at number five. The rest of the chart dealt with politics, sports, the wedding between a posh British lady and a Prince, and Charlie Sheen’s crazy ass. Steam now supports coupon codes
Steam now supports coupon codes which can also be traded through the system. Valve has posted an FAQ on the matter through here, which provides you with plenty of induction on the matter. The FAQ doesn’t mention that coupons can be traded, but Blue has word that it is indeed the case.

Arkham City DX11 patch is live, 32-bit users may wish to wait a bit
The PC patch fixing DirectX 11 issues in Batman: Arkham City has gone live, but Rocksteady is suggesting folks running 32-bit versions of Windows 7 or Vista skip it for the time being. Apparently, there are a few issues, and those who prefer 32-bit need to wait on a follow-up patch, and console themselves with DX9 for the time being. Those running 64-bit should go ahead and download the patch, as it should fix any DX11 issues you may be experiencing. Other fixes in the patch are listed below the jump.
There’s also a new skin pack available for all versions which will run you $4.99/400 Microsoft Points. A shot of it is posted below.

Games on Demand: RE5 and Dead Rising 2 price drops
Dead Rising 2 and Resident Evil 5 have been given price drops via Games on Demand on Xbox 360. Pricing for the digital downloads are as follows: Dead Rising 2: 2400 MS points ($30.00) and Resident Evil 5: 1600 MS points ($20.00). Fire up the 360 and get to downloading if you haven’t played these already.
