Xbox Live Gold is free this weekend, includes chance to win an Xbox entertainment package

Microsoft is hosting a free Xbox Live Gold weekend, starting today. This means those who are Silver members will be able to jump online and play with friends, watch LoveFilm, play around with video Kinect, and other nifty new features recently implemented. According to CVG, Zune Video also has some nice deals and free content planned for the weekend, one example being 40% off select movie titles like The Hangover, The Bourne Identity and The Green Lantern. Report: Argos pulls out of second-hand game market

MCV’s reporting UK retailer Argo has pulled out of selling second-hand game market. The company, which started accepting trade-ins and selling second-hand titles in July 2010 for all stores following a trial scheme in March that year, has instructed retail stores to stop accepting trade-ins or sales immediately.

Zynga predicts subs rise ahead of IPO

Zynga CEO Mark Pincus has predicted the number of premium members will spike after the company’s IPO at some point before Christmas, As pointed out by VentureBeat, the company has 215 members, 2.5% to 3% of which rep its user base by buying Facebook Credits for virtual goods. “We could see that doubling,” said Pincus in a room of up to 100 potential investors, via Reuters. Zynga is expected to go public on the NASDAQ next week.

EA and DICE have told Ausgamers that there are no plans to release PC patches for Battlefield 3 outside of Origin. After a recent 3.6GB patch, fans had requested the updates be released as stand-alone files to allow for faster, unmetered download speeds from ISP-hosted mirrors, but to no avail.
