Tickets on sale for EVE Online Fanfest 2012
CCP has opened ticket sales for EVE Online Fanfest 2012, which takes place on March 22-24 at the Harpa Conference Center in Reykjavík, Iceland. A special early bird pricing deal will run until January 31 to secure your entry for $100, after which you’ll be asked to cough up $125. This year’s event boasts the usual announcements and presentations from developers; competitions; tournaments; parties; pub crawls; Iceland tourist tours you can purchase with PLEX; and exclusive access to DUST 514, including new info, playable demos and a beta key. Mesmer revealed as final Guild Wars 2 class
According to the Guild Wars 2 Twitter, the final class available to Guild Wars 2 players is the Mesmer. NCSoft had embargoed the reveal for this Wednesday, but a video made its way online anyway. Before its removal, the jubilant Mesmer fanbase got word of it, so there’s no stuffing the cat back in the bag. Expect a full reveal with trailer and details laster in the week. The MMORPG is expected to launch in 2012.

DiRT Showdown launching on PS3, 360, PC in May
Codemasters has announced DiRT Showdown, an arcady-type iteration of the rally series that will focus on aspects such as gymkhana, destruction derby and more. Three types of event make up Showdown: standard racing, stunt racing and destruction. As well as being playable alone, there’s split-screen and online for up to eight players. The release of Showdown will support a fourth DiRT iteration in the future. There’s a hands-on report over at GameSpot. The first trailer is below.

Minecraft among winners at Indie Visibility Awards
Minecraft was part of the winner line-up at the Indie Visibillity Awards, taking two categories: IndieGames’ GOTY and ‘Best Minecraft’. Other victors included Curve Studios with Explodemon and Stealth Bastard, Project Zomboid from Indie Stone and Mode7 from Frozen Synapse.

PSN to receive maintenance downtime on Thursday
Sony’s confirmed PSN will be going down for maintenance from 4.00pm on Thursday until 2.00am on Friday. Those who are wishing to continue playing online are advised to get going before 4.00pm on Thursday, or they’ll be met with a maintenance screen when they attempt a sign-in.

New PS Access events to wheel out Vita before February launch
Sony’s announced a new round of PlayStation Access events for mainland UK, confirming it’ll introduce its Vita Rooms events to other areas in mainland UK other than London. Uncharted: Golden Abyss, FIFA 12, Reality Fighters, MotorStorm RC, ModNation Racers: Road Trip, Little Deviants, Escape Plan, Super Stardust and Wipeout 2048 are all part of the playable lineup, as the next-gen portable hits Manchester at 63 Deansgate from Friday, January 13 – Wednesday, January 18. Birmingham, Glasgow and London are also stops on the tour before Vita hits Europe on February 22.

Namco to introduce Tales of browser title
Namco will bring Tales of as a browser game, the latest issue of Jump magazine in Japan has said. Known as Tales of the World: Dice Adventure, it’ll be a F2P affair in which you’ll play as other characters in the series. While it does have your typical battles, events and parties systems, it isn’t known if it’s a fully-fledged RPG. The title will launch in Japan in spring.

UK charts: Skyrim topples MW3 after a month
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has taken the top spot in the UK charts from Modern Warfare 3, ensuring there won’t be a repeat of the 10+ straight weeks at the summit of the list that Modern Warfare 2 ruled over between end of 2009 and end of 2010.
