Demigod released on Steam
Gas Powered Games’ Demigod debuted in 2009 to a very mixed response. Most people said the game was pretty great when it wasn’t malfunctioning or the download service wasn’t glitching out.
Today it was announced that the game will be available on Steam as well. So now you can compete to be amongst the pantheon of gods without having to search through your program files to find your install of Impulse. It will also be on sale through January 2nd for just $6.69 or $19.99 for a 4-pack.

Plants vs Zombies’ Crazy Dave releases hip hop song for charity
You might remember this video from way back in September. PopCap originally released this video during TGS for no apparent reason at all. Today we’re getting word that PopCap has made the song available for download on iTunes with all of the profits going to charity.
The charity involved is called Concern Worldwide and works to benefit some of the poorest places on Earth. If you’ve got £0.79/$0.99 to spare then head on over to iTunes to pick up a copy for a good cause. The music video is embedded after the break.

Activision Blizzard parent faces credit drought
Bloomberg reports Activision Blizzard majority stake holder Vivendi has been denied a $1.34 billion credit line as lenders shy away from companies enmeshed in the Eurozone financial crisis. Vivendi has gone so far as to reduce its stake in one of the world’s biggest publishers to 60% in order to keep its credit rating high, but its overtures have been met with demands for interests rates 90 basis points above standard.

Nexon receives $1.2 billion in Japanese IPO
Nexon went public on the Tokyo Stock Exchange this week, and managed to rake in a staggering 1.2 billion USD in its IPO. Driven largely by the strength of Maple Story, which is said to be one of the most popular games in the world, Nexon boasted the largest IPO of the year on the TSE.
Nexon claims it has 1.2 billion registered users, of which 77 million are currently active. Their games have a large base in Southeast Asia, particularly in China. Nexon plans to use the cash influx to finance acquisitions.
Nexon was one of the earliest companies to enter the now enormous F2P gaming market.

Fifth South Park RPG class is…The Jew
In an interview with Game Informer, Obsidian revealed the fifth and final class in the South Park RPG: The Jew. The new class is described by Obsidian as a sort of Paladin/Monk high-risk/high-reward class.
“The closer he is to death, the more powerful his abilities become,” said Matt Mclean, lead designer on the game. “So you’re strongest when you’re at one hit point, but you’re also just about to die.”
The Jew joins the fighter, thief, mage, and cleric as the five classes of the game. We’re equal parts glad and horrified that the South Park game is obviously still willing to push the envelope.
