3DS officially Australia’s fastest-selling console
Over 200,000 3DS consoles have been sold in Australia as of its 37th week, and both the local arm of Nintendo and the NPD Group agree this makes it the fastest-selling console in the nation’s history – despite a hair raising launch price. It was not revealed how many of the sales occurred after an August price cut. The 3DS is also performing strongly in Japan, where it had its best-ever week, and in the UK, where holiday stock ran perilously low.

SCE Japan launches PlayStation Game Music service
Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has launched a new service almost certain never to reach anywhere else. Andriasang reports users of mobile music streaming services can now access the PlayStation Game Music Service. It provides tunes from popular games, ranging from Final Fantasy XIII-2 to Dynasty Warriors to the Yakuza series – there’s even a range of sound effects, for all those situations when you really have to hear the PS3 start-up chime. Um. Well, it could be useful in D&D games when you really need to rock that chocobo vibe. PlayStation Game Music is available through NTT Communications, MTI, Enterbrain, Oricon and Dwango, with other portals expected to get on board soon.

SOE suspends 700 Everquest players
After a stern warning to unscrupulous Everquest players last week, Sony Online Entertainment made good on its threats. Seven hundred accounts were suspended today as Sony’s wrath rang out through Norrath.
“Remember that these suspensions are merely the first wave, and further action is on the horizon. We will not rest, but will instead continue to gather data and take action as necessary on behalf of the entire player base. Don’t cheat – it’s not worth it,” said Everquest community manager Piestro.

Sound Shapes to feature tracks from Deadmau5
Deadmau5 is making “a variety of exclusive new tracks” for Sound Shapes, a unique Vita title which unfortunately looks likely to miss the console’s launch. Navigating a 2D world with vague shades of Loco Roco, the player creates a unique soundscape on each playthrough. In addition to the campaign, you can make and share your own levels – mixing your own interactive music, in other words. Deadmau5′s offerings will apparently be playable in both modes. Sony sent a press release so this one actually looks to be true, unlike other headlines we won’t discuss.
