Perfect World announces new MMO, Fantasy Condor Heroes

Perfect-World-International-logo

If this isn’t the single greatest name an MMO has ever had, we’re not sure what would beat it. “Fantasy Condor Heroes” beats ultra-bland names like Rift and Everquest any day. The new MMO is a cartoonish martial arts-themed MMO based on the martial arts novel Return of the Condor Heroes. So…what’s a Condor Hero?

That’s certainly at the top of our list of questions we’re hoping Perfect World will answer for us as their marketing campaign kicks up. What we do know is that it doesn’t involve being a fantasy condor. Which, honestly, is a bit of a let down.

Left 4 Dead Boomer action figure is grotesque

gamboomerneca530

But some people are apparently into that sort of thing. The level of detail on this figure is incredible, and we really can’t imagine who would want to have this on display in their home/office. But in this case it’s a sort of horrifying beauty. Full picture after the break. More »

Armor expert expounds on women’s battle armor

armour

Most of us have recognized at this point that women’s armor in video games is generally ridiculous. Barring a few scarce exceptions, women’s battle raiment leaves them underprotected and in some cases, in more danger than if they’d gone to war nude. An armor expert explains.

Thaiwanese tech site digitimes cited unnamed sources who told them that Apple would be purchasing 7.85 inch panels from LG Display.

The new device is said to be launching in March or April of next year, citing unnamed sources “in the supply chain.” According to the reports, this iPad will not replace the mainstay model, but will instead be a cheaper option to the iPad 2.

Zynga stock surges, plunges, surges, regulates in turbulent first day

Elevated Farmville Land 2

The trepidation of stock analysts about Zynga’s future (many had said it wasn’t worth the asking price) was proven wrong early this morning as Zynga’s first day on the market started well, climbing 10% to $11 per share. Then it was proven right as the stock tumbled, then it surged again. So where do they stand?

As of late afternoon on the New York Stock Exchange, Zynga’s stock has regulated to about the same place it started, around $10/share. The day has no doubt been an emotional rollercoaster ride for Zynga who started the day as the year’s most successful Initial Public Offering, but several times looked like it might become the year’s biggest tragedy. Their IPO produced about $1 billion, which is the largest of any company this year, and the largest tech IPO since Google in 2004.

Why? They’re implementing an interesting system that will show museum-goers exactly where they are in the museum via a stereoscopic 3D map. They’ll also be able to listen to audio commentaries based on where they are in the museum.

“We are the first museum in the world to do this,” said Agnes Alfandari, head of multimedia at the Louvre, with staggeringly insightful commentary.
