Nintendo to release Wii Channel to fix Zelda saves

Nintendo has announced an oddball fix for the game-breaking bugs found in Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Rather than releasing a patch for the game like you might see in a PC, Xbox 360, or PS3 game. Nintendo has opted to release an entire Wii Channel to help fix the problem.

The good news though is that the Zelda Data Restoration Channel will be able too retroactively fix save data after the bug has taken effect. Allowing users to continue the game from the point they left off. Nintendo has not said when the channel will be available. Until then users can still send in their save data for a fix.

I really don’t understand why they can’t create a “Patch Channel” or something, to allow you to download data onto your device to retroactively patch games. Seems like an obvious and simple idea.
