Apple may introduce new iPad sizes in 2012

Despite the roaring success of the iPad, Apple apparently still thinks they can do better. One plan reportedly on the table is to introduce a new iPad option with a reduced screen size. Thaiwanese tech site digitimes cited unnamed sources who told them that Apple would be purchasing 7.85 inch panels from LG Display.

The new device is said to be launching in March or April of next year, citing unnamed sources “in the supply chain.” According to the reports, this iPad will not replace the mainstay model, but will instead be a cheaper option to the iPad 2.

Didn’t Jesus say smaller tablets were useless?

But then again, he said no-one wanted a phone with a screen bigger than 4 inches.

oh god this will get confusing O__o

so will a small iPad be like an iPhone and the next iPhone could have a bigger screen making it comparable to an iPad and then there will be a 15″ laptop iPad and so on…

Yeah, this directly contradicts the crap Steve Jobs was spouting about tablet size. They should put that quote on the side of the box.

How about they get a modern aspect ratio first? 4:3 died with the CRT. Don’t get me wrong, there are a few advantages of 4:3 but it’s fucking awful for any HD content, which contradicts the main purpose being a simple multimedia device.

I dont see the point with a smaler screen. If you need a more portable device you use a iPhone or a iPod toutch?

Don’t worry freedom_stain, the tech world will just do what it did after the iPhone 5 hysteria and ignore what was said by Jesus or Apple fanatics (including themselves).

Case in point, Gizmodo having multiple orgasms on a daily basis over more memory and a bigger screen on the next iPhone: Then the 4s turned up with the same size screen and same speed processor as its predecessor, and – yes, you’ve guessed it – within days we had two convenient articles on Gizmodo on the following subjects:

1. Why the iPhone’s screen is the perfect size and the likes of the Galxy S II are too big.

http://gizmodo.com/5847981/this-is-why-the-iphones-screen-will-always-be-35-inches

2. Why the iPhone doesn’t need more than 512MB and other phones have more because they’re not as good.

http://gizmodo.com/5848683/why-iphone-4s-only-has-512-megabytes-of-ram

That reality distortion field seems to come in the box with every iDevice.

If you want to be the crowd and secure the iPad deals you’re going to need to get out there early on Black Friday and go straight to whatever store has the best iPad deal for you.

@8 You’re missing the point entirely. Before the 4S, they were bigging up more memory on the next phone. After it launched, they claimed the iPhone doesn’t need more memory. How convenient.
