Risen 2: Dark Waters to release in April

Deep Silver has attached a release date to Piranha Bytes' piratical RPG epic, Risen 2: Dark Waters.

The game hits the US on April 24 and Europe on April 27, on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The sequel is quite a departure from the more traditional RPG stylings of the first Risen game, letting the player wield firearms, use Dirty Tricks, and generally arr-me-hearties-ye-scurvy-seadogs-Davy-Jones it up as the captain of a ship, sailing through an open ocean world studded with islands.

Monstrous sea creatures await you, and its is their dispatch - or at least, thinning out - that the player seeks throughout the main quest. Do the numerous pirate groups which roam the watery world have the solution to this trade-blocking infestation? They must have, right, because it's hinted at heavily in the press release.

Deep Silver is expecting to ship 1 million copies of the game.
