Risen 2: Dark Waters to release in April

Deep Silver has attached a release date to Piranha Bytes’ piratical RPG epic, Risen 2: Dark Waters.

The game hits the US on April 24 and Europe on April 27, on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The sequel is quite a departure from the more traditional RPG stylings of the first Risen game, letting the player wield firearms, use Dirty Tricks, and generally arr-me-hearties-ye-scurvy-seadogs-Davy-Jones it up as the captain of a ship, sailing through an open ocean world studded with islands.

Monstrous sea creatures await you, and its is their dispatch – or at least, thinning out – that the player seeks throughout the main quest. Do the numerous pirate groups which roam the watery world have the solution to this trade-blocking infestation? They must have, right, because it’s hinted at heavily in the press release.

Deep Silver is expecting to ship 1 million copies of the game.

I hope that it will have that Piranha bytes magic in it.

Risen 1 was half-baked and it was a big disappointment for such a talented studio.

Really? I absolutely loved Risen. And i even played it on the 360 only, which was a very very bad port. But due to the gameplay and quests, i survived it, lol. Really wanna check this one ot.
