Anarchy Reigns gets delayed, locked July release instead

Sega’s delayed Anarchy Reigns, pushing it from a initial January launch and giving it locked dates in July.

The Platinum brawler will now release on July 3, 2012 in the US, July 5 in Australia and July 6 in Europe.

“Anarchy Reigns brings a new take to the brawler genre and we’ve decided to take a little more time to deliver the full knockout punch,” said Sega SVP of marketing Gary Knight.

“I can’t reveal much now, but it’s something to do with scale. Let’s just say traditional one on one or two versus two fighters will be a thing of the past…”

Anarchy, while never givem a full locked date, was down for January after Sega announced an original delay from fall this year.

Read our impressions of it from gamescom here.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Platinum working on Metal Gear. Cause that studio doesn’t seem that big to handle multiple games.

Anyway I think the delay will be a good thing for me, way too many games coming out early 2012, I would not have picked this up in Jan

Nah. Don’t think it has nout, or at least very minimul, impact between Anarchy and Rising. It looked like it needed more time in the oven and its got it. Plus, summer’s typically quiet, so they’re doing what it did with Bayonetta and releasing it in a quiet time in an effort to get more sales. Good call.

Not like it matters anyway, the game will likely be another mediocre summer game…can’t remember the last time a good console game has come out in July…

Platinum titles deserve much more hype and advertising. Even their weaker games like Vanquish are great. Also, where is my Bayonetta 2!?

@6 Bayonettta was successful enough that there’s almost guaranteed to be a sequel, and while Vanquish wasn’t huge, it did apparently hit the million mark.
