Aion to go F2P in February

NCSoft’s announced it’s to make Aion free-to-play from February next year.

The MMO, which launched in September 2009, will move to F2P as part of a partnership between NCSoft and Gameforge, with 38 people from the latter now in charge of looking after the game for Europe.

“In the last few months the lands in Atreia have become more and more deserted. We want to reinvigorate the world of Aion and attract new adventurers to the towns to take to the skies as Daevas,” reads an open letter on Aion’s website.

A new FAQ on the transition has been posted, and can be found here.

hehe good things come to those who wait. :) also this just shows how cheap is to maintain servers and how stupid ppl r for actually paying for something that they should not.

I think this is the natural outcome from the release of The Old Republic.
Still I didn’t expect it.
