GSC Game World: "Nothing is certain", studio will do its "best to continue"

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 developer GCS Game World has issued its promised statement on the studio's future. Short version: it's not good news.

"We will do our best to continue. However, at this moment, nothing is certain," the tweeted statement said.

"Our website will continue, with the forum and tech support. The shop will continue until the nearest planned items sell out," it added.

Last week, Ukrainian news sources carried reports that the developer had been closed by owner Sergei Grigorovich, with staff to be paid until the end of February but development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 shelved.

A flurry of back-and-forth tweets, some of which were deleted, appeared to confirm the closure, but the latest statement maintains ambiguity on the game's future.

It's probably safe to assume the game has been canned, but it seems possible that a core group of developers is pushing to find new financial backing before issuing a blanket statement. We await further updates.
