Latest Devil May Cry video shows Dante trying to escape the city

Thursday, 8th December 2011 16:33 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Last week, IGN had an exclusive video posted for Devil May Cry, showing Dante battling enemies and the city itself while trying to take out a camera watching his every move. Today, that trailer is no longer exclusive to the site, but since you’ve seen it already, how about one showing our demon hunter trying to escape a city collapsing around him? Watch it below. DMC will release on PS3 and 360 next year.

Can’t wait to see this fail so the developers can finally learn their lesson.

    Looks rubbish.

that effect with physics is impressive, but Devil May cry is not about running away from/for someone with pre-scripted events.

#2 I wish quite the opposite, i wish they succed so developers start to take risks in old franchises to give something fresh and new not the same old same old thing.

@2 Yeah, lets just regurgitate the same old stuff over and over again. That’s a much better solution!

@3 Every single even in previous Devil May Cry game was scripted. Every single time you played through the game, it was the same mobs, the same situations, and the same paths.

There were also plenty of sections in those game that involved simply navigating platforms and doing puzzles. So again, your point is null is void.

@5, you are just defending Ninja Theory game right now and thats it because
every game is scripted, but we are talking about DMC here from NT. NT DMC is more scripted like western adventure/hack and slash titles and Japanese version of Devil May Cry never never used pre scripted events. NEVER. Only bosses or something that involves monsters at best.

“There were also plenty of sections in those game that involved simply navigating platforms and doing puzzles.”

without pre-scripted “linear” shit. Nuff said.

    New gameplay trailer.

    http://www.gametrailers.com/video/demon-city-dmc-devil/724722?

Gameplay trailer is beyond something awful with crappy dialogs like “You need to kill that camera” LOL.
First of all, looks very empty so there are Zero interactivity compared to past DMC games. Dante is also slow compared to past games, AI is not challenging at all. Not a lot of enemies, like 2-4 and they are just standing and watching. I just hope it’s just for show off and in the end there will be more than that.

Whare are combos? (I hope they will be included eventually)

Pretty much nothing special. Oh and that emo 17 year old girl creeps me out and she somehow reminds me of a Lucia. Maybe i’m wrong, but she resembles her a bit.

@7: Wow, that new gameplay Trailer is like 2 weeks old.

“Gameplay trailer is beyond something awful with crappy dialogs like “You need to kill that camera” LOL.”

LOOL!!! What a crappy dialog! This party is getting crazy!

“First of all, looks very empty so there are Zero interactivity compared to past DMC games.”

Yeah, i already miss destroying vases, that added so much to the game.

“Dante is also slow compared to past games, AI is not challenging at all. Not a lot of enemies, like 2-4 and they are just standing and watching. I just hope it’s just for show off and in the end there will be more than that.”

M-hm, i mean it’s not like it’s probably the first few minutes of the game and it’s not like the video already said that it’s in development.

Remember how Dante isn’t really fast in the beginning, but by gaining new abilities like STINGER you’d get faster?

“Pretty much nothing special. Oh and that emo 17 year old girl creeps me out and she somehow reminds me of a Lucia. Maybe i’m wrong, but she resembles her a bit.”

Lucia? Where did you see that? We don’t see her hair, the clothes are completely different, so’s the voice.

@6: I think you should sit down and read a little bit about the definition of “Scripting”.

Game needs more dubstep to truely be down with the kids and up to date and screaming on the audio visual edge.

    In UE3 at 30FPS.

@7 I pretty much stopped reading after you criticised it for “crappy” dialogue.

    this game looks amazing.
erth its time the series got a remake because of the 4th game

  13. Erthazus

@12, 4th game was not so bad to be honest. It was just more of the same with new protagonist, but yeah, after 4th they really need to change something but not give the DMc title to other developer that never developed Devil May Cry. Thats just my opinion on this.

@YZ, “Yeah, i already miss destroying vases, that added so much to the game.”

but these vases and junk were for different orbs and collectibles + secrets.
smashing through junk is really great if you make it right. In past DMC games junk was because of orbs but we are in 2011. Is that hard to make interactive environment that you can smash? I mean not just vases but huge stuff.

“Remember how Dante isn’t really fast in the beginning, but by gaining new abilities like STINGER you’d get faster?”

Dante was fast in the past DMC games even in the beggining. The difference between this and that is that DMC from Ninja theory tries to make Dante moves too realistic for the fantasy-devil-like character.

you can see how he uses Ebony and Ivory. They shoot like the regular pistols aka slower than before. You can also see that with swords and etc. His overall in my opinion are slower.

“Lucia? Where did you see that? We don’t see her hair, the clothes are completely different, so’s the voice.”

Maybe face and her voice? I don’t know. I think they are going to use that character because she was half baked in the second game so it is probably the best alternative/solution. I’m sure that by using famous characters like Trish or Lady will make fans of the series extremely mad. I’m not sure that NT wants that reputation again.

I loved the first 3 games, completed the 4th one and didn’t like it much. Got to say though I love the fact they are trying something new and different with this series. I for one am buying it. Something fresh and to people who are calling it, you’ll enjoy it too and you will play it at some point.

A different studio taking the game and creating their version of the series. I’m all for it.

To be fair im not against trying new things with old series, I was a pretty big supporter of Silent Hill Shattered Memories, I still think thats a great re-imagining. This is not, it never will be Ninja Theory lack the talent to create a combat system and skill ceiling high enough for DMC.

You know why people love Devil May Cry because its kinda like Demon/Dark Souls, you may never ever be as good as those pro videos on youtube, you might die alot and drop combos. The potential is still there though, you can get better and whats more as you improve the game rewards you for it. This new video is a scripted running sequence, the only time the previous games did that was during boss battles and some other small segments.

Out of all the titles that could have been picked up and given to a Western developer ala Metroid Prime why choose this? Imagine a Dino Crisis reboot instead. Imagine NT making a Clock Tower game, or a new Haunting Ground.

    At the tip top difficulty level DMC 4 looks like this : http://youtu.be/5IKu27FLeg0 (and if you watch this you’ll even see one of the small scripted chase scenes I mentioned earlier) Its insane and an absolute blast, I have seen a grand total of 4 enemies at once in DmC. ;_;

Like it or not DMC 4 sold more than any other entry in the series and it sold a pretty damn respectable 2.35 million. I just hope to God the HD releases next year sells more than this.

    @13:

“but these vases and junk were for different orbs and collectibles + secrets.
smashing through junk is really great if you make it right. In past DMC games junk was because of orbs but we are in 2011. Is that hard to make interactive environment that you can smash? I mean not just vases but huge stuff.”

Well, the game is still in development. So far we haven’t even seen Dante absorbing any orbs. I expect the game to feature those precious vases.

“Dante was fast in the past DMC games even in the beggining. The difference between this and that is that DMC from Ninja theory tries to make Dante moves too realistic for the fantasy-devil-like character.”

Dunno, but i remember him as slow. Could be because i played the PAL Version back then. Also: It’s fine, if NT reboots the franchise, they might as well change it to what they want. Don’t see how his moves are more realistic though.

“you can see how he uses Ebony and Ivory. They shoot like the regular pistols aka slower than before. You can also see that with swords and etc. His overall in my opinion are slower.”

I’m not sure that those guns are Ebony and Ivory. He said in one Trailer “Ebony, Ivory, i miss you girls.” Could mean he uses different guns.

“Maybe face and her voice? I don’t know. I think they are going to use that character because she was half baked in the second game so it is probably the best alternative/solution.”

Hope not, she was boring. I don’t think it’s her voice though, she had an accent if i remember correctly.

“I’m sure that by using famous characters like Trish or Lady will make fans of the series extremely mad. I’m not sure that NT wants that reputation again.”

I don’t think they care, to be honest. :D Could also be a completely new character though.

    @16:

“You know why people love Devil May Cry because its kinda like Demon/Dark Souls, you may never ever be as good as those pro videos on youtube, you might die alot and drop combos.”

You know why i love DMC? Not because of the combat, although that’s good. I loved DMC for the universe. And i’m glad they gave it to NT, since they never bothered explaining or expanding properly upon it.

So stop this “DMC is about combat.” because the reason for why people love it differ.

“I just hope to God the HD releases next year sells more than this.”

Are you fucking INSANE? Do you really want a lazy port like this to be successful? What kind of message would it sent to developers? Have you played RE4 or Code Veronica on 360/PS3? These Ports are horrible!
