IGF Awards expands with Microsoft-sponsored XBLA prize

The Independent Games Festival has added a new gong to its list of honours, with a publishing deal on the cards for the winner.

The XBLA Prize will be awarded as an addendum to the Main Competition and Student Showcase. The winning title will be selected from among both prizes' entrants by a jury of developers and Microsoft staff.

The winner will score a guaranteed first-party publishing deal, extending to Xbox Live Arcade, Windows and Windows Phone, including funding finish the game if necessary and access to Microsoft's publishing suite.

The IGF has nearly $60,000 in prizes to give out this year, and takes place March in San Francisco.

Thanks, Shack.
