VGAs to introduce new PS3 exclusive, The Last of Us

A mysterious set of teasers have appeared for a new PlayStation 3 exclusive to be unveiled at the VGAs this week.

Called The Last of Us, the game is represented so far by two teaser trailers, the first of which is embedded below. A series of clips from real-world disasters are accompanied by a mature-sounding male narration mourning a simpler life.

The second teaser, accessible from the game’s website, shows an ant. IGN sourced the footage to an episode of BBC Planet Earth about a fungus called cordyceps which kills ants by eating their brains from the inside.

The VGAs take place on December 10. The awards will showcase EA BioWare’s latest game, the new Alan Wake and Metal Gear Solid: Rising.

Ι dont think the game is called “The last of us”, it’s just a teaser tagline.

Worth pointing out that the YouTube channel was made in 2006, so people are saying the game may have been in the making ever since then. In fact going off Geoff Kieghly’s Tweets the “unbelievable” part might be that the game has been a secret for so long:

“Would you believe there really are secrets still left in the game industry?”

PS3 exclusive or not, they failed to excite people.

This is not a teaser, it’s a shitty montage with the Bastion narrator. It’s at the same level as Crysis 2 teaser, but Crysis as a franchise was popular at that time.

+ site was not working when they revealed that trailer and there is another video with Ants.

Well, knowing Sony, this could be one of those strange PSN games that end up winning the approval of some critics but being played by almost no-one.

Btw this maybe a rumor but i think Diablo III will be revealed at VGA for consoles with CGI trailer.

“Diablo III’s full opening cinematic will make its world premiere at the @SPIKE_TV Video Game Awards!”

Sounds more of a last man on earth game then a zombie game so hopefully a true survival game, just like how i am alive should have been like.

I also think the Last of Us could be just the tagline. Of course it’s VGA and the whole thing could be a dumb overhyped surprise or a small downloadable game with the same name.

Of course there is still a small chance that this is something truly big (Half Life 3 going PS3-PC only would destroy the waorld but it won’t happen). Coming from the same VGA and Kieghly who think everything is a megaton, I’m not so hopeful.

Maybe its Cage’s next game…only reason I kept my PS3 after buying it this past Feb is b/c Heavy Rain was an amazing game…and plus I bought a bunch of blurays so might as well keep it to watch them

You can see 2d alphas on the right there so that is apparently from in-game. The date on the site is today so we might see another teaser at some point.
