Ryan: Insomniac going multi-platform isn't "the end of the world by any means"

Sony’s Jim Ryan has said that in an "ideal world," the firm would have preferred that Insomniac stayed exclusive to PS3 development, but the firm harbors no ill will and is "still friends" with the Resistance developer.

Speaking with OPM, Ryan said one of Sony's greatest strengths is its internal studios, so when Insomniac announced it was going multi-platform, it wasn't "the end of the world by any means" - especially when it has Naughty Dog brandishing the Sony banner and "a bunch of stuff" on the way as well.

“When you look at the critical acclaim that Uncharted 3 got and also the number of units that are selling it’s just great," he said. "Having a developer like that to showcase our platforms, exclusive to our formats is really, really great.

"There’s a bunch of stuff at the back end of the year – I’ll just tease you with this because I not going to tell you what because I can’t – which I’m very excited by, and you’ll hear about [it] over the coming months. [It'll] give you plenty to write about.”
