Quick Quotes – Hollywood doubtful on Assassin’s Creed movie

20110609asscreerev

“The whole Ubisoft/Sony deal is a waste of ink, paper and time. The level of control Sony gave up means, effectively, that Assassin’s Creed will never — and I mean never — get made.”

“They want to be able to pull the plug on the whole movie’s development if they decide to. It’s ridiculous.”

“As a director, even Steven Spielberg cannot get this kind of deal.”

Speaking to NY Mag, anonymous studio executives and insiders express doubts over Ubisoft’s insistence on creative control.

SEGA: Sonic Generations was a way for everyone to celebrate the franchise’s 20th anniversary

20111024sonic

With Sonic Generations’ release, the Guardian traveled to Japan to speak with the game’s director, producer and sound director regarding all the hard work which went into the game. According to the development team, rather than just create any Sonic game for the blue fella’s 20th Anniversary, it wanted something which would instead be a present to those who have loved the series over the past two decades. In order to do this, it had to compress a score of history into one game, so everyone could come together and celebrate. It’s a very interesting video, and it’s posted below. Sonic Generations is out now on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and on November 22 and 25 for 3DS in the US and Europe, respectively.

The Secret World open beta may possibly go live before Christmas

A scary monster from The Secret World

Funcom has said that while it’s too soon to give an exact date, it hopes to launch the open beta for The Secret World fairly soon. According to an interview with Funcom Canada CEO Miguel Caron (posted below), the firm is looking at around “Christmas” for the next beta phase, but it may come afterward. Back in August, the firm announced that 500,000 had signed up for closed beta, so hopefully it’s only a matter of a month or so before the doors are flung wide. The game is slated for an April launch. Thanks, Massively.

Quick Shots: Devil May Cry screens full of action, nasty looking boss

dmc

Capcom has sent over some lovely new screensshots for Devil May Cry. In the shots below, you can look at Dante smack enemies of Limbo City around and observe how buildings, streets and environments will morph in an attempt to kill him. Don’t worry about our demon hunter, though: he can always activate his Devil Trigger, slow time and turn the world monochrome and unleash nasty combos upon the baddies. There is also a look at one of the game’s bosses in there as well. For more DmC action, check out the trailer posted yesterday.
