European Final Fantasy XIII-2 pre-order bonus detailed
Square Enix is letting Europeans in on the transforming weapon madness too, offering Noel’s Muramasa weapon as a pre-order bonus through “certain retailers”. It can be a sword, a spear, or I don’t even know, some sort of enormous sword thing. The new bonus comes in addition to a number of extras included in a previously detailed pre-order pack. Final Fantasy XIII-2 releases in early 2012 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

PSA: Cave Story+ out now on Steam
Cave Story+ is out now on Steam, and for the first week it can be yours at $8.50 – 15% off. Thew version offers upgraded and original options for both sound and visuals, seven new gameplay modes, controller support and promised future content updates.
Cave Story is also available on DSiWare, WiiWare, and for the 3DS. The Metroidvania style game was originally released for PC and is considered a modern indie classic.

Starcraft II now $30 from Blizzard Store
Grab yourself a copy of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty from Blizzard’s online store, and you’ll pay just $30 for it, down from $60. The price reduction seemingly applies to the boxed offering as well as the digital version.
The long awaited strategy sequel was the best-selling PC game of 2011 at the end of September. The first expansion pack, Heart of the Swarm, has not been dated but is expected in 2012.

TechLand’s new ATV racer officially titled as Haste
Eurogamer reports Ubisoft has spilled a few details on the upcoming ATV racer game from Dead Island developer TechLand, first revealed at its French Digital Days event. The game’s official title is Haste, and much like previous effort Nail’d, favours over the top arcade action rather than simulation. It’s due on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in 2012.

Earthrise to relaunch as free-to-play in 2012
Ve3D reports Masthead’s debut game, Earthrise, is going free-to-play. As of December 1, players will no longer be able to purchase monthly subscriptions, and the games is expected to make the full conversion on January 1. A boxed version will be available at retail and grant access to the “premium” version. The scifi MMO shooter launched in February this year, and has an emphasis on PvP play.

Nintendo, third party Wii devs embroiled in patent lawsuit
Gamespot reports Impulse Technologies has filed suit against Nintendo, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, THQ, Konami, Namco Bandai, and Majesco over alleged patent infringement related to Wii exercise games.
Impulse, which makes the Trazer brand of gym equipment, has a 1996 patent for systems “where the motion of the player is tracked to effect movement of a virtual avatar, and the exertion of the user is monitored”.
The company filed similar suits against Microsoft and third-party Kinect developers earlier this year and has been met with counter-claims.
