Quick quotes: Kitase on Lighting & Serah’s “sisterly love” in FFXIII-2
“As far as how the sisterly love is depicted, I think that you will have a better sense of it once you play the game. As far as the differences between how they express their affections for each other, in Final Fantasy XIII Serah was a Crystal and Lightning, as an older sister, was trying to save her. Whereas Serah goes out looking for Lightning this time, who has mysteriously disappeared, it seems everyone has accepted the fact that she is gone, but she is determined to find Lightning and she has set off to go look for her. So you can tell that they are sisters, that they have similarities, strong determination and a strong core.” – Final Fantasy XIII-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase, speaking to RPGSite (via FFN) at a recent media event.

European free-to-play launch of Lineage II coming December
Publisher Innova has confirmed Lineage II: Goddess of Destruction will launch in Europe in early December, with localised versions in multiple languages to follow throughout early 2012. The expansion brings plenty of new content but also heralds the game’s transition to free-to-play after seven years of subscriptions.
Lineage II is one of the most successful of the “smaller” MMORPGs, with a steady user base of around 500,000. Its transition to free-to-play may signal news of sequel Lineage III, which has spent some months in Vapour land.

Quick Quotes – Toriyama wants FFXIII-2 players in the action immediately
“When we started working on Final Fantasy XIII-2, we kept in mind that we didn’t want a long, drawn-out movie sequence. We wanted it to be more hands-on so people could get into the game at a faster pace. That’s why the opening battle sequence of FF XIII-2 showcases the new direction of a more integrated battle system. The tutorial also kicks in earlier, which is now playable. We just wanted people to get into the game faster than with Final Fantasy XIII.”
– Final Fantasy XIII-2 director Motomu Toriyama explained to GameInformer why the game’s opening is so action-packed.
Thanks, GoNintendo.
