Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD takes a Eurogamer 9 in first review

Wednesday, 30th November 2011 13:42 GMT By Patrick Garratt

The PS3 HD re-make of Stranger’s Wrath’s taken a 9/10 from Eurogamer in its first review, making it better than Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3 and Battlefield 3 with their string of h8s. Just kidding.

GMA winner and all round good egg Christian Donlan branded the game a “wonderful piece of work” and the Just Add Water redux itself a “lavish treatment”.

There’s still no release date on it as yet for PS3, but keep watching.

The original released for Xbox in 2005, while a PS2 version was planned and cancelled. EA was the publisher.

The game’s story sees Stranger bounty-hunting to earn enough cash to afford a life-saving operation. Get more on it here.

Isn’t the reason this isn’t coming to Live because of its size? Or is it because they wouldn’t grant a 6 month exclusivity to Microsoft or some such bullshit?

Either way it’s a bit daft. I enjoyed this on the original Xbox & it’s a shame newer 360 gamers won’t get to give it a bash :|

The Oddworld FAQ has news about how Just Add Water are gonna carry on doing new oddworld stuff, like The Hand of Odd and Abe HD, under the trust and occasional communication of Lorne Lanning.
I read an interview a while back and can’t find it now, but http://gotgame.com/2011/08/21/just-add-water-exclusive-interview/ shows how they are definitely a good developer to carry on the Oddworld series, working with Oddworld Inhabitants as well of course.

http://www.jawltd.com/?p=630 explains why they’ve not announced an xbox360 version yet, and basically they’re over the 2.0GB limit for XBLA (updated from that post, it’s actually 3.2GB now) and hardware limitations are preventing them from saying yes to a 360 version, at the moment. They’d like their games on everything in an ideal world

Edit: To anyone who saw my this post before I edited it, sorry ha.
I’m actually supposed to be making a website for a module which is part of my audio and music tech uni course… fml

“Isn’t the reason this isn’t coming to Live because of its size?”

Correct the game is too large. Just add water had stated this a few months ago.
