Batman: Arkham City demo breaks day one UK, US record, claims OnLive

The OnLive demo for Batman: Arkham City has broken both the US and UK records for most demos being played in a day, the streaming firm said today, but no figures to back up the claim have been provided.

The taster, which went live alongside the full release of the Rocksteady open-world epic in the US yesterday for PC, allowed players to go through the first half-hour of the game on PC, Mac or Micro Console.

"The record-shattering performance of the Batman: Arkham City demo shows that gamers recognize the immense advantages of playing free trials on the OnLive platform," said OnLive CEO, Steve Perlman.

"OnLive makes the ‘try-before-you-buy’ experience effortless, and it’s quickly becoming gamers’ go-to destination for instant-play demos and early exclusives."

Arkham City PC lands at retail in the UK on Friday. The PS3 and 360 version has been out since last month, with a Wii U version also in development.
