Gears of War 3 title update tonight

Epic will patch Gears of War 3 with its second major title update at 2:00 AM PDT.

Upping its tournament support, Epic has added an optional spectator mode to private versus matches. The spectator mode applied to 4v4 matches, with one player from each team nominated as spectator.

Another community-friendly tweak allows players to disable the HUD - perfect for making videos.

On the multiplayer side, fans will be either delighted or devastated to learn of the following exploit fixes, depending on whether they've been handing it out or taking it:

  • The Onyx Field Engineer medal can no longer be prestiged.
  • In Capture the Leader, the overhead Beams on DryDock are no longer accessible.
  • While affected by the Smoke Grenade stun, players will no longer be able to take hostages, pick up weapons or revive teammates.

Check out the full patch notes for more details.

Thanks, Joystiq.
