343 puts down rumours of next-gen Halo 4

Sunday, 13th November 2011 23:34 GMT By Brenna Hillier

343 Industries’ Frank O’Connor has laughed off rumours that Halo 4 is to be a launch title of the next Xbox.

“Halo 4 will be on Xbox 360 and use a modified core of the Halo engine,” the studio lead wrote on Neogaf.

The Halo franchise’s role as a flagship Xbox title, along with persistant whispers of upcoming new hardware, had some speculating the upcoming game would be part of a surprise console announcement. Halo 4 is expected in late 2012.

So many rumours going round at the mo, even msn have gotten in on it but they don’t claim them to be rumours.
Still think announced 2012 E3, maybe with a demo of what it can do.
Then 2013 E3 the full line up of launch titles, tons of info, specs etc onn the new console and then released 2013 holiday season.

2012 release would be stupid, esp releasing Halo 4 on the 360, better off to hold till the nextbox.

Saints row 4, Alan wake 2 etc have been announced for the nextgen. These games will take more than a year to make.

Well that’s a little bit disappointing. I was hoping new trilogy, new xbox. Shame.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they plan on releasing 5 and 6 on the the 360 too, after reading his reaction.

The 360 is practically at the end of its life cycle now so a new trilogy, new studio, new engine, and new console would make more sense.

This will either be the 360′s last “hurrah” or they’ll do a Zelda and have it for both platforms
