2K has changed its mind about the planned termination of NBA 2K11′s multiplayer servers this month.

Kotaku reports the severs, which were expected to drop this month after just over one year of operation, will be in action until April 2012.

2K’s list of supported multiplayer titles suggests the publisher has adopted a policy of closing down support for titles replaced by a new yearly iteration.

NBA 2K11′s continued support may be a result of the persistant online connectivity issues which have reportedly plagued the game’s successor, NBA 2K12.

NBA 2K12 launched in October, on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

I understand that someone will try and defend a companies right to shutdown online servers to outdated and aging games with dwindling online comunities. But yearly annual games are not that. To shutdown a games online function simply to force gamers to pay for a new copy in order to continue to play online with their friends is down right evil.

Its just one of the many greedy, evil, and money grabing tactics that are going to become the normal way of doing things for game co.s Its right there with somethingsized KB DLC unlock codes. And people wonder why I seem to hate everything and sound like a grumpy old man. Sometimes you have to call it for what it is.
