Quick Shots - Dragon Quest X battle system explained

It looks like Square Enix isn't messing with a classic battle formula too grievously with the first MMO in the series, Dragon Quest X.

Siliconera reports players can use familiar fight, magic, skill, and item commands, as well as tactics, to give orders to AI teammates. Players can form squads of four, and invite other player parties to help out with difficult battles - or just run away.

Commands are apparently enacted on a turn-based system, but you perform them in real time. Fights begin when the player makes contact with an enemy in the field. Most importantly, the dancing attack remains a devious enemy tactic.

The screens below show off the battle system as well as Dwachakka, the homeland of the dwarves.
