Report - Android and iOS ahead of DS and PSP in US portable games market 

Mobile analytics firm Flurry, along with NPD data suggest Apple and Android games have surpassed both Nintendo and Sony in the gaming on the go market.

For 2011, data compiled for Android and iOS show devices running these systems made up 58% of the US market, compared to 36% for DS. These figures are in stark contrast to those derived in 2009, when Android and iOS held 19% of the US market and DS leading with 70%.

The drop in use for PSP, according to the data, showed a steady decline for the handheld with 11% in 2009, followed by 9% in 2010, and 6% in 2011.

Projections from the firm estimate Android and iOS will bring in $1.9 billion in revenues this year, compared to $1.2 billion for Nintendo with 250 million iOS and 190 million Android devices activated so far.
