Japanese gamers not too interested in Vita, Wii U, says study

A study from Japanese research group Goo Research has conducted that roughly 10% of Japanese gamers are interested in getting either a PlayStation Vita or Wii U at launch.

The survey, which took place between October 17 and 19, saw 1,083 people take part.

On Wii U, only 9.4% are keen, with 36.1% interested, but not looking to buy one. 54.5% aren’t interested in the new Nintendo platform at all in the slightest.

For Vita, only a mere 10.2% noted an interest, while 35.2% were interested, but ain’t aiming to buy. 54.6% weren’t even interested in the slightest for the handheld ahead of its December release in the country.

There’s a lot more stats from the survey over at IndustryGamers.

And yet Vita pre-order stock sold out in a matter of hours.

I dislike surveys. People accept their findings too readily, when they should just be one of many tools for gauging popular opinion.

It all depends on how you bring the numbers, essentially 35% of those polled wanted one at some point, just not at launch.
Doesn’t seem like bad numbers at all. It’s not like 100% of gamers want a handheld.

And there has been nothing said about the Wii-U beyond the controller unveiling, so the fact that nobody cares about it yet is completly unsurprising. It’s too far away and too unknown.

A bitt of spin and bullshit, hell anybody can be an “analyst”.

Isn’t Japan an expensive country? Surely if PSP’s are still selling well it must have something to do with price.
