Analyst estimates Modern Warfare 3 preorders at 9 million

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 pre-ordershave overtaken those of Black Ops, according to analyst Atul Bagga of Lazard Capital Markets..

Gamespot reports Bagga bases his estimates on retail checks made at the end of last week, and puts Modern Warfare 3 pre-orders at 9 million.

That’s 70% more than Modern Warfare 2 had at the same launch period, and 55% over Black Ops’ efforts.

Modern Warfare 2 generated 22 million sales while Black Ops managed 25 million.

Modern Warfare 3 arrives on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 8, which is in fact today for a third of our audience, but as they’re too buy playing to read, let’s just go with tomorrow.

Thanks, EvilAvatar.

Skyrim has more pre-orders on Steam. Just saying.

Typo in your last sentence btw.

All that yawning reminds me of this:

@3 The top selling thing only tracks on a weekly or monthly basis tops. It also tends not to match what people are playing on Steam very well, weirdly enough.

Possibly, yeah. Just thought I’d mention it. I just dislike these pointless ‘analyst says’ posts.

Yeah, and 9 million sounds pretty unlikely.
