Quick Shots: Xenomorphs are everywhere in these Aliens: Colonial Marines shots

Gearbox has released a few, new screenshots for Aliens: Colonial Marines, and the lost is posted below the break, courtesy of the game’s Facebook page. The co-op shooter will be released in 2012 on PC, PS3, Wii U, and Xbox 360.

    The marine in the second shot is probably agreeing with the boys after all, that the entertainment in that particular bar could be just a little too racy! :D

    I downloaded and watched the demo walkthrough for this off of PSN.
    I have to say that I think it looks awful.
    Poor alien AI had the walking past the guy playing the game instead of attacking him.
    It was frankly bizarre to watch.

    Agreed, I thought it looked pretty awful too.

    I think the main problem with an Alien game is the reconstruction of the aliens themselves. In an effort too replicate the speed of the xenomorphs they always tend to lack ‘weight’. In the movies the aliens are general portrayed as over 6/7 feet tall and incredibly strong. When ever Ive played any games they always seem to feel like they weigh about 2 stone and their limbs instantly fall off as soon as you shoot them.

    It’s a shame but I just don’t think they will ever ‘nail’ the experience and simulation of fighting these creatures. The truth is, most soldiers and marines would be ripped to shreds instantly when fighting one of these creatures, let alone hundreds.

    Having QTEs where you hold the aliens inner mouth before shooting it with your shotgun and avoiding acid splats just seems a joke. I think they and other developers should just leave the licence alone really.

    I thought it was going to be a squad tactical FPS but looks like they turned it into COD. AvP already did COD and it wasnt that fun. It was pants actually, so not interested in this.

    Bring back the squad tactical Aliens game and i’l start paying attention again.

    It couldn’t be a squad tactical shooter? Last time I checked, every single one of those had guys with guns too.

    They should have done a Borderlands style take on the franchise; lots of guns, lots of sidequests, lots of humour

    I too agree with Eregol & MonkeyG.the whole game just looked like a running sequence with a ridgid cardboard cutout for a gun and motion tracker. i had a flashback from Alien Triology on PS1 when i saw the aliens (impressive back then but not now) and the random red jam-like splat mark appearing on the screen when your hit even made my girlfriend (who know nothing about games) say: “that looks a bit cr*p doesnt it?”. And the dot in the centre of the screen instead of a zoom-to-gun option added just seems pretty lame for a 21st century game!
    None of the aliens games released on these modern day consols have ever been anything like the cod game (except for the break animation when your grabbed by an alien/preditor) if Colonial Marines was made by Infinity Ward, we wouldnt be chatting on this post about how rubbish it looked lol. unfortunately the muppets that own movie right just don’t seem to have a clue when it comes to software houses and publisher….i mean come on..Sega??? was bound to be arcade-like with their influence over Gear Box who in my opinion are good and making game but not great. i think i can see where this game is going i just really hope im wrong. i dont want this game to fail! i just really hope the demo was a very ruff cut and that the main game will be awsome. fingers crossed. Oh and i see what Karma ment about COD, that the game runs in a super linear order and isnt tactical at all. they could have avoided that and made the game develop its story depending on how much area you gain or lose from the xenos. i guess linear gameplay is too tempting a shortcut these days.
