Dead Island developer trademarks Dead World

Thursday, 3rd November 2011 00:23 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Siliconera spotted a US trademark filing by TechLand for something called Dead World.

The Trademark is, of course, highly suggestive of a sequel to the first person horror RPG Dead Island, but TechLand has refused to comment.

Thanks, Eurogamer.

Hey your game is awesome, but you seriously need to stop making shitty generic names for your games.

I bet waaaay more people would have bought dead island if it wasn’t called: Dead Island.

and yo don’t make an mmo, It’l fail.

dead island is an epic fail. I mean the game is ok but on the technical side this is by far the most horrible game i ever played. I will probably never buy another game by techland.

Yes Dead Island has a few flaws but it was a decent enough game… not the best or high scale triple A title but it wasn’t bad. I’d think yes they might be thinking about sequels but also just buying the domain to secure it.

@3 Agreed with buying just to secure. They have a lot of stuff to fix before they’re allowed to think about a sequel though. And really? Dead World? There wasn’t enough work on Dead Island and now you’re planning a world-based game?

Personally, still waiting for a good deal and patches before I give the game a spin.

Nice. As traumatic as the console versions were, I’ve had nothing but joy from Dead Island on PC.
