Extended DMC TGS trailer shows old Dante in parallel world

Wednesday, 2nd November 2011 09:05 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Ninja Theory’s Devil May Cry reboot may be set in a parallel world, and hence not canonical, but old Dante still makes an appearance in an extended version of the game’s TGS trailer, released today. Looks bonkers awesome. Get it below the break.

No date yet, but it’ll be on PS3 and 360. Thanks, Siliconera.

My opinion on this: While Dante moves looks almost exactly like from the previous games, everything else lacks of that stylish atmosphere.
Wrong music, kinda lame Dante’s voice. He said:

“My guns!1 Ebony, ivory, i miss you gurls!”

Dante would never say that cheap sentence. Evar!

@1: You’re right, he’d say smart things like “This puaarty is getting craayzzaaa!”

@2 he isn’t in this trailer at all. Article is wrong.

I think it’s when the screen goes funky black and white. But to be honest, it just looks like they invert the colours for a few seconds more than it actually being the old Dante.

I don’t get it,why the game still looks like ps2 game?

I think I’m going to stop looking forward to this game now with the PR talk and bullsh* they keep spitting out!

    first it was a reboot
second dante is a bride of angel and demon and allows him to use angelic powers and demon powers. Angelic powers makes your hair go white.
now this angelic power is now a parallel world for old dante.

    wtf man
just stick with the damn reboot.
not everyone hates the new dante

so now its in an “alt” universe, well that is some serious backpedalling thier doing there just to make the pissed off fans forgive them, well i guess i can just a little, but still i won’t forgive them completely until i get to play a demo of the game!

@8 As has been pointed out numerous times already, they never, ever stated that this game was a canonical title.

The huge stylistic changes on top of the fact that it’s always been penned as being a reboot makes that pretty obvious.

Lovely trailer. The art style is delicious, and that music is a damn sight better than the new metal trash from past Devil May Cry games.

Liking the voice for Dante too. Anyone know who it might be, by any chance?

What’s the budget for this game? Because it looks aged and the music sucks hard.

@11 In all fairness, that was when voice acting wasn’t at it’s finest nor at the standards we have today.

    @13 Oh please.

The point still stands. Claiming that Dante wouldn’t say something cheesy is simply flat out untrue. The character was nothing but walking cheesiness.

Textures could do with some polish imo.

@11. there is a difference between poorly written and his character.
I’m judging the latest games in the series.
DMC 1 is 2001, this one is 2011.

Point still stands, yes, Dante is a walking cheesiness and thats why people LOVE him. But he is not a retard that says obvious and stupid things about “Gurls” and his “Guns”. I felt embarassed by just watching this trailer. Seriously. Because it is out of the character.

@16: But it’s not. Dante has no character. You know what he has? One-liners. One-liners don’t define a character. No, sir. Dante had no depth. So you can’t say it’s out of character.

And … you feel embarrassed that he calls his guns girls (they have pictures of woman on them), but not because he wanted to bring LIIIIIIIGHT into your dark soul?

And i disagree, i really disliked the cheesiness of Dante or the series as a whole.

@16 Old Dante talked about guns and girls all the damn time.

You’re arguing semantics. The simple fact is that he is cheesy, and always has been cheesy.

The fact that it was released in 2001 doesn’t justify anything. We were already getting plenty of well written and we’ll acted games then, and we still get plenty of poorly written and poorly acted games now.

You want him to remain “in character” (what character?) yet when he says something you think is cheesy, you complain? Even though technically that is in character for him?

Dante says plenty of stupid and poorly written things throughout the series. The series has never been some sort of bastion of quality in that regard. Ever. This new one at least looks interested in telling an interesting, character driven story, something Ninja Theory has always been really good at.

The guns are engraved with pictures of women on them. That is why he calls them his “girls”.

You people complain for the sake of complaining. It’s as simple as that.

I agree with Michael. Lovely trailer !

With Ninja Theory’s track record, I’ll definitely be picking this up.

Where do you guys pre-order this stuff from so early? haha.

I can’t find anything about who the VA is as the new Dante. I have only looked for a couple of minutes but you would think by now games, even at this stage, would start getting listed on IMDB or something.

They should have stuck with Heavenly Sword 2. I would be totally ok with a male version of Heavenly Sword instead of messing with a big series.

The fact that there needs to be a news to say that DMC is non-canon with the other just shows that the fans don’t really want something like this.

@Others talking about Gurls’n Guns: Watch the trailer/scene where Trish throws the bike at Dante and you clearly hear that he does say something different. Also in one of the first trailers not showing the bike scene he says the same sentence.

I only compare a DMC1 2001 trailer and DMC trailer 1 as the rest would be to compare full games with just a trailer.

Also games with Ninjas as producers seem to be destroying* series.
